November 3, 2007 7:30 p.m. Festival Place, Sherwood Park
America's premiere psychedelic cowboy band is on the road again. The New Riders of the Purple Sage have a revived and inspired lineup, bringing the songs of John Dawson back to the ears of adoring crowds nationwide as well as taking those songs to places they have never been before musically. "Marmaduke" Dawson started the band in 1969; that same year, David Nelson, expert in both country and rock guitar, joined the group on electric lead guitar. These days, Dawson leads the band with long-time member Buddy Cage, who replaced Jerry Garcia on pedal steel guitar. The current touring lineup includes Michael Falzarano from Hot Tuna on guitar, and the Stir Fried rhythm section of Ronnie Penque on bass and Johnny Markowski on drums. Tickets range from $36-42 and are available at the Festival Place Box Office - 780.449.3378. To purchase tickets online, click here. |
